Champagne Skagen honors the Scandinavian art of 'hygge'
'My family's tradition has been to spend time in beloved Skagen, a tiny fishermen's village of the northernmost part of Jutland, Denmark where the Baltic meets the North Sea. Danes have celebrated its unique bright light and long summer days since the first bottle of champagne arrived on its shores, from France, in the 1800s.
This unique celebratory moment was captures brilliantly by one of the most famous Danish impressionist painterns, P.S. Krøyer, in his iconic painting, ‘Hip Hip Hurra!'. This artwork is highly symbolic to me, bringing together the Danish, Norwegian, Swedish and French impressionist artists. It is a painting that celebrates the importance and influence that art has os our culture.
